Happy March, my lovelies! Valentine’s Day may have been all about true love and chocolates, but March is about parties and kisses. Muah! To get you in the party mood I’m giving you a free tutorial and pattern today. Make-it-yourself Kiss Me Burlap Banner YAY!! It’s easy and cute. 😉
I’m using the supplies I got in my March CMYFABRIK Box for this project. Don’t be sad if you didn’t get one, you still have time to sign up for next month’s box! The March Sewing box has all the supplies you need to make this (except the pattern, which is my little March gift to you). The box has a cute pattern for a shamrock wreath, but I want to spark your creativity and show you it’s a jumping off point to your own ideas.
Look at all the pretties in the box! I have another fun idea with the rest of the materials, so only use what I’m using for this project. Wink.
Step 1:
Cut one sheet of your burlap into 6″ strips.
Step 2:
Cut those strips into 4″x6″ wide rectangles.
Pull 1 to 2 thread off the sides and bottom of the banner pieces.
You’ll need 9 rectangles.
And for heavens sake, iron those things.
Step 3:
Print and cut out your letters and 3 shamrocks.
Step 4:
Fold the top 1″ of your banner piece over and stitch down. Repeat for all 9 pieces.
Step 5:
Pin your letters and shamrocks to the pieces, centering under the top stitched edge.
Step 6:
Stitch down the fabric. When you get to corners, just leave your needle in and pivot. (unless you’re hand-stitching, then totally ignore me)
Step 7:
Now cut 2 pieces of twine 20″ long, and 7 pieces of twine 12″ long. Thread the long pieces into 2 end shamrocks and the rest of the twine goes in the other banner pieces.
Hah, banner pieces…
St. Patty’s Day is coming!
Tie the pieces together with little bows.
Step 8:
Hang your pretty banner! You can tie a knot in each end of the banner or tie it to something on your mantel.
Now go find someone you like to show this off to, maybe they’ll get the hint. 😉
You can download the banner pattern here on Craftsy.
And you can get your own CMYFABRIK Box here! I’m super excited to be teaming up with them as an ambassador so I can share project ideas with you. Did you know they design the fabric for the box? Yeah, super cute and totally exclusive. Not to mention they do an incredible job curating the boxes each month.
I do receive a CMYFABRIK Box as an ambassador, so I can play with it and make fun tutorials for you! 🙂
Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
