Heidi and Finn Inspired Stocking

DSC_0025Well, momma wanted a sophisticated stocking for herself. Yes, I’m talking in third person…that happens Christmas Eve when you have a big sewing queue. Hah. So, she stepped up to the Pattern Revolution stocking challenge once again. But this time she stalked Heidi and Finn, so classically timeless. Perfect for a classy broad. 😉

Sweet Sunshine Dress pattern and tutorial 12m-6t PDF Reversible kimonoWell, momma is a total sucker for pintucks. Glorious pintucks! So when she saw the Sweet Sunshine Dress from Heidi and Finn, she knew exactly what to make.

I added pintucks to the stocking pattern and sewed on huge girly blossom fabric from Amy Butler for the heel and toe. Finishing the top was an easy decision. I added a Coco Chanel classic binding. I know Heidi and Finn loves all the classic silhouettes inspired by Miss Chanel and her bindings. (random thought- Coco’s bindings were sewn on by hand since they were true couture, but I achieved the look by stitching in the ditch). DSC_0040

And voila! Momma got a beautiful Heidi and Finn inspired stocking with classic elements and timeless appeal. She even topstitched with a pretty pink variegated quilting thread. This makes her so happy every time she looks at it.DSC_0031

It was a joy stalking Heidi and Finn for this challenge. And now I really want to sew all of her patterns for my girls and boys. Haha, but that has to wait until after Christmas. Patience Rachel, patience. 😉

Now Momma has a cute stocking to sit next to the girl’s stockings! Here’s the Alice in Wonderland stocking, and Gone With the Wind stocking. Uh-oh, looks like she needs to poke out her toe a little more…nothing a little pound of chocolate couldn’t fix. Merry Christmas to me. 😉
