Filles a Maman Mimi Tunic and Dress Blog Tour

I’m so giddy to be a part of Les Filles à Maman’s Mimi Tunic and Dress blog tour! Melanie makes the cutest patterns! I seriously LOVE to dress up my girls in her designs. She always comes up with such fun designs and I’m always saying to myself, “Wow, I never would have thought of that.” Her designs are very original and unique, and I mean that in the most admiring way. I can’t wait to see what she dreams up next!

**And if you’re wondering, a rough translation of Les Filles à Maman is “the girl’s mommy”.  🙂ALLY2

When I got this pattern, I knew I wanted to make a dress from it.ALLY5

I made a contrasting band on the bottom. The pink stops where the shirt would end, and the polka dot band is the extra length of the dress. I just cut the extra length off the pattern and added a 1/2″ seam allowance to the bottom hem of the tunic and top edge of the tunic band. Then I cut the pieces out my fabric and sewed it to the tunic. I kept the facing on the bottom of the dress.ALLY6

The off-set Peter Pan collar is so adorable with the little keyhole neckline.ALLY8

Seriously.

Oh my gosh.

Adorable.

You can use a button, covered fabric button or beads to close it.

I can see this tunic and dress in many color combinations to suit any girl. Cream and seafoam green for subtle glamour with a gold closure. Or black and white stripes with a contrasting floral for the girly girls. Any fun print for the main part and a solid for the collar.
