I had another fun month with the items in the CMYFABRIK Box as their brand ambassador. March’s theme was the wild outdoors and it was definitely a sewing retreat in a box! I made the cute little fox key holder , a fun tote bag, and a little fox pouch. Instructions are included for the keychain holder and tote bag. I went off on my own for the fox pouch. 😉
I absolutely LOVE the fabric they designed this month. It had watercolors AND cute little critters. ACK!! It’s too adorable! I used the tote pattern included, with a few tweaks. I sewed the lining and outside separate and then sewed them together at the top, leaving a little hole to turn right side out. When I was finished I sewed around the top to close it. I also reinforced the handles with top stitching.
I knew I wanted to use one of the characters for a little applique and I was immediately drawn to the fox.
I used a technique called Sketchy Stitch Applique to make it. Here’s a video I found on Youtube, if you’re a visual learner. I’ll be honest, I sew a lot faster than she does in the video. I used Fossil Fern for the red part of the fox.
I love my little pouch, it holds all the knick knacks in my purse.
Here’s a close-up of the key holder I made.
When you pull the acorn it hides your keys! Fancy that! 😉
My kids adore the little fox too. 🙂 I felt like I was transported to summer camp. Hah, it was a lot of fun to embroider and stitch by hand. You can buy your own at ColCreation on Etsy.
If you didn’t snag a box this month you still have time to snag April’s box. They already sent out sneak peeks of the flowery fabric. 🙂
As a brand ambassador I receive the box in exchange for a review and awesome pics of my finished projects. I love sharing new ideas and techniques of things you can make with it! Think of the box as a jumping off point!
So who remembers summer camp? Wouldn’t it have been so much more cool to make these little key holders during one of the camp classes? 🙂 I think so.
Happy weekend my lovelies!
